Typewriter Keys

A good friend of mine gave me some vintage typewriter keys in the fall.  It has taken a while for me to find the time to play with them and have them whisper designs to me.  I put them on my bench and with a bunch of other materials for lots of visual stimuli.  I cut some copper pieces out and made prongs to capture the keys,  Yes, there is a spring in the picture along with brass pieces and steel jump rings

I added some brass square tubing, antiques brass chain, vintage tin from a baking pan, Monopoly pieces and a stone with a natural hole through it and these are the results:

Sculptural Earrings

I was trying to think of a way to make my earrings more 3D and this idea came to me in the shower (don't you get great ideas with that hot water running?).  What do you think?

Vintage Baking Tin Jewelry

This year I have discovered the wonderful texture of vintage baking tins and I have begun to incorporate this into my jewelry, especially earrings.

Plowshares Craftsfair

Next up for East Street Tins and the holiday season is the 

Syracuse Plowshares Craftsfair.

Between a great flea market today, friends who recycle their tins with me, and a house sale, I am ready to get to work in my studio!
