Custom Order- A Fiber Artist's Necklace

What artist doesn't like custom orders? Joining visions with a client can be a wonderful sharing of ideas which enhance the final project.

So I was tasked with making a necklace for a fiber artist friend.  She liked the idea of incorporating some the tools of her trade not the necklace.  We worked on a length and basic concept.

Then I got to play.  Here is the finished piece.  I used bobbins, thimbles, a Monopoly piece and a vintage chocolate mold plus a repurposed piece of chain.  She is very pleased.

Typewriter Keys

A good friend of mine gave me some vintage typewriter keys in the fall.  It has taken a while for me to find the time to play with them and have them whisper designs to me.  I put them on my bench and with a bunch of other materials for lots of visual stimuli.  I cut some copper pieces out and made prongs to capture the keys,  Yes, there is a spring in the picture along with brass pieces and steel jump rings

I added some brass square tubing, antiques brass chain, vintage tin from a baking pan, Monopoly pieces and a stone with a natural hole through it and these are the results:

Getting Ready

I am getting ready for a vendor mart sponsored by the Quilting By the Lake conference put on by the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY.  Thinking about quilters and how they like to put things together inspired these necklaces and bracelets.

Valentine's Day 2015

It is coming....and I found a great tin with hearts this year:
