Getting Ready

I am getting ready for a vendor mart sponsored by the Quilting By the Lake conference put on by the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY.  Thinking about quilters and how they like to put things together inspired these necklaces and bracelets.

Schweinfurth MakeShift Class 3/7

Last night's MakeShift class went quite well. The students learned how to make polymer clay canes and them apply them to beads, glass objects and earrings.  Some of the highlights:

Make Shift Classes spring 2014

I will be teaching three more classes at the Schwienfurth this spring in the Makeshift series.  in the first one, we will make canes with polymer clay. Those canes will then be sliced and become earrings and a candle holder.  Participants will need to bring a glass or bottle to be covered. That class is on March 6th from 6-8.

The second class will be a mosaic class.  Bring a cool object like a fish bowl, an aluminum tract.y or ice bucket to cover.  Bring chards and broken dishes to use.  During the first class on April 3rd we will apply the broken pottery to the object which the participant has brought.  Two weeks later, April 17th,
we will grout the project.  Definitely a great way to recycle broken plates and cups!

Come join the fun and learn new skills!

Saturday, February 9, 2013

A busy week:  I have been working on these six cuffs during free time all week, tweaking a design I started a couple of summers ago.  These new bracelets have three layers of tin which makes them a bit sturdier without a lot of weight.

I also taught the first of my recycled jewelry classes this spring at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn.  We worked with bottle caps filling them with resin for magnets and pins and also flattening them for earrings.  All had fun.  The next class will be in March and we will be making tin beads  for a necklace.

Yesterday I delivered a package of 15 pair of earrings and 3 necklaces to the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn. That felt good.

Later this month, I will be the craft portion of a fund raiser at the art center involving beer and cheese. My part will be with recycled beer cans and bottle caps. These are the proto types for that event.

Last bit of news is my tin jewelry shop name has now changed to East Street Tins.
