Candle Reflector Brooches

I love finding great objects to reuse.  These started their lives as candle reflectors. I cut and sanded the points, added bits and pieces of fun tin and little pictures on the back too.  Everything is held together with tiny brass rivets.  These would look great on a lapel or a jean jacket.

I have been layering, cutting, arranging, sanding, sawing, drilling and tapping many pieces of tin together in these small framed collaged brooches.

New tin brooches made from tin images that are hand sawn and riveted onto printed tin backgrounds.  The frames are held together with tiny tube rivets.  The circle attachments are all domed to give some extra visual interest at different heights.  They will be for sale this weekend at the Clothesline Show in Rochester.

I have been working on some ideas with tin:  new brooches and pendants.  The cat pendant is for a spay and neuter charity auction.

Look at how cute these brooches turned out.  The tin was from a cookie tin from the 60's or 70's.  I tried to make them look like stamps from that time period by attaching them to copper which I textured and patinaed.

I have been working with these tin candle reflectors all week in spare time.  They are fascinating and present such wonderful design possibilities.
