Do you ever wake up and have a new design in your head?  That's what lead me to this design.

With two big craft shows coming up, I have been working on earrings. Different styles for different people.

Listening to the Tin

Some tins just suggest a different treatment.  The lid of this one suggested a curved form to me.

So I cut it and made side facing earrings out of it rolling a part to make a tube in which the ear wire would sit making the earrings very secure.

Formed the tin on these earrings with a hydraulic press when I was at Haystack this summer.  They are just like little pillows.  I just got around to joining them together.  They are going to be at the Clothesline Show.

An art teacher friend of mine recently gave me a bunch of prismacolor pencil tins from her classroom.
I loved the section on the back where the color samples are located.

New shaped dangle earrings.  Snowy and windy today...a good time to hole up for a couple hours in the studio.  When is spring coming?

I have been working on lots of earrings this week after a nice wholesale purchase at the beginning of the week.  Olive oil cans, tea tins, a vintage beer can, and cookie containers are all represented.

I'm working on new designs and building up stock for later this year.

I have been working on some new shapes for the dangle earrings I make.  These are in the second batch,  Trying to come up with just the right proportions.  All were made out of vintage tin.

Busy time of the year, what with school winding down and gardens calling my name.  I made these earrings last week and am just getting ready to post them now.

I saw some earrings on a woman in an airport this week and loved the shape and the way they moved. I took the idea and created some from tin when I got home. Not the same, but my spin on it. The tin came from an tea tin which I think was British although each side had a different image from various tea growing areas in the world.

I have been working on some BIG earrings-still light weight due to the tin but bolder in look. These are 1 5/8 " in diameter. Some are layered tin, Some are cut out with the jeweler's saw. One pair has domed discs in the center.

I worked on and finished some new earrings today. They were from a lovely tin so I wanted to try a new way to form ear wires so that they would hang sideways.

Last year my goal was to come up with a new design every week. It was a tough goal to keep and like many artists I had periods of activity and some slower times due to outside forces.

Just to keep working is probably my goal for this year. The more you work, the more ideas seem to flow for me.
